Giving Season at Carolina Waterfowl Rescue
Our mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and release or rehome is not possible without your support.

The winter is especially hard for us to raise funds, as people are preoccupied with the festive holidays or are committed to supporting the range of other nonprofits who are also in-need during this time of year. OUR Education Fund NEEDS YOU!
This year, the USDA added regulations for public-facing wildlife centers who engage in educational outreach, meaning that Carolina Waterfowl Rescue’s educational programs are at risk.
Educational outreach is pivotal to what we do and to furthering our mission to protect native wildlife. Many of the standards proposed by the USDA regulations apply to our entire facility, despite 100% of our outreach occurring off-site. Stipulations include double fencing areas that have livestock and meeting ADA requirements for bathrooms (even though we are not open to the public).
We are aiming to raise $50,000 to go toward fencing, habitation, and USDA permitting requirements. We love visiting classrooms in the community; developing relationships with local educators and students is something we are immensely privileged to have been able to do and something we earnestly hope to continue.
One of our long-standing goals is to eventually open our facility for tours to the public, so these additional changes are in line with our long-term plan. Education funding in 2024 will not only allow us to return to doing educational programs in 2025 but also expedite the process of opening our doors to the public for educational tours.
