Student or corporate group seeking a meaningful volunteer opportunity? Carolina Waterfowl Rescue extends our volunteer opportunities to teams looking to get involved in the community. Roll up your sleeves and get ready to get dirty!

Our volunteer project days offer a diverse range of tasks aimed at improving the lives of our animal residents. From chopping produce to constructing new enclosures and assisting with landscaping needs, project volunteers actively contribute to the welfare of wildlife in our care.

Email our volunteer coordinator to register your group for a service project!

Fulfill school volunteer hours or service projects with us!

Are you a scout looking to earn a badge or a student interested in gaining volunteer hours for a club? Student groups younger than 16 can organize service projects within their community to benefit the animals, and groups ages 16 and 17 with parent supervision can bring their creativity and enthusiasm to our door for on-site volunteering!

Whether you want to contribute to us from afar or volunteer on-site, we are excited to hear from you and help you meet your goals.

We are open to your ideas! Email volunteer@cwrescue.org to get started.

Projects in the past have included…

  • Cookie fundraisers and bake sales held by Girl Scouts.

  • Construction of new enclosures and feeding stations for the animals by Eagle Scouts

Work day volunteers generally assist with high-priority maintenance projects to better the facilities for the animals. Volunteers can be asked to help clean things or participate directly in the beautifying of habitat yards, whether that’s planting trees, moving gravel, or fortifying fencing. Volunteers will be in direct contact with animals, such as geese, chickens, and ducks. If you’re signed up for an upcoming project day, here’s how to prepare for your visit! We look forward to your team joining us soon.

Arrive Prepared

Step 1:

We kindly request for everyone on your team to please print and sign the following FOUR attached documents and bring them with you to the work day. You may also e-sign the documents and email them to volunteer@cwrescue.org.

  1. Full Release Waiver and Indemnification (two pages)

  2. Confidentiality Agreement

  3. Receipt and Acknowledgment of the CWR Manual

    1. Click here to open the manual.

  4. Rabies Vector Species Form

Step 2:

Take note of the following considerations!

  • Please wear rubber boots or sturdy sneakers, as there are many spots that are or could possibly be muddy. Dress in comfortable clothes that you can get dirty.

  • Bring a water bottle for hydration and a hat for sun protection. We can offer water refills and popsicles for keeping cool!

  • We have a First-Aid kit, sunscreen, bug spray, and work gloves available on-site.

  • We have lockers for valuables but active volunteers may be using them at the time of your visit. We recommend leaving valuable items at home or locking them in your trunk. You may carry them with you, but it is not recommend to do so. CWR assumes no responsibility for lost or stolen items.

  • Parking is in short supply at the rescue. Parallel parking spots are available in front of our animal drop-off building and along our privacy fence. We have a small gravel area with pull-in spots as well, but those may be filled by routine volunteers when you arrive. Overflow parking can be found at our next-door property 5415 Poplin Rd. on the grass.
